About The Program

Many victims and witnesses feel a sense of frustration with the criminal justice system. Although your role, either as a victim or witness of a crime, may seem frustrating, we are here to help. The Victim/Witness Program is available to assist you in any way possible. We will do our best to ensure that you, as a crime victim or witness, receive sensitive treatment while participating in the criminal justice system.

This website has been developed so that you can become familiar with the criminal justice system. We want you to understand that your role, as a victim or witness, is an important one.

  • You would like to file for Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund.
  • You have questions about your role as a witness
  • You would like someone to escort you to court
  • You would like an explanation of court procedures or a tour of the courtroom before you testify
  • You need assistance in preparing your victim impact statement
  • You need referrals for medical or psychological assistance
  • You need interpreter services (Usted necesita servicios del intérprete)

  • You have questions about restitution
  • You would like advance notification of judical proceedings
  • To inquire about release notification of offender
  • To inquire about closed preliminary hearings for certain sexual offenses
  • To inquire about protection available to victims and witnesses of crime
  • To inquire about closed circuit TV in certain offenses
