The Chesapeake Correctional Center is comprised of four sections: Administration, Security, Support Services, and Work Force. Each section maintains specialized responsibilities, has its own command staff, and answers to the Chief of Corrections.
The Chesapeake Correctional Center Administration Section manages the day-to-day affairs of operating the facility. The administrative personnel oversee the daily operation of each section.
The Security section is responsible for the safe, secure housing of inmates within the correctional center. Security personnel work 24-hours a day, seven-days a week to ensure a safe and efficient correctional environment. Security is the greatest priority within the Chesapeake Correctional Center.
The Support Services section functions to support the daily operation of the Chesapeake Correctional Center. Support Services encompasses units such as Booking, Records, Transportation, Lobby Security, and manages an array of correctional programs and services. Support Services strives to provide a variety of quality support in an efficient, professional, and courteous manner to all members of our Office, the public, incarcerated individuals, as well as outside law enforcement and criminal justice agencies.
The Work Center consists of three sub-sections which are: Work Force, Work Release, and Home Electronic Monitoring.
The Work Center houses inmates for various programs for the purpose of utilizing inmate labor to perform a variety of tasks throughout the community. The utilization of inmate labor has proven to be effective in saving tax dollars that would otherwise be spent on paid laborers. It has also provided job training for inmates in certain skilled positions and given the inmates a means of positive re-enforcement.
Work Release and Home Electronic Monitoring allow low risk, non-violent offenders the ability to serve their sentences while maintaining employment in the community. These inmates pay fees for room and board, fines and court costs, child support and other critical financial responsibilities.
